For the third year running we had a great response from the Travel Retail and Duty Free Industry at the TFWA Asia Pacific Show in Singapore May.

This year the show was held at the Marina Bay Sands Expo and Convention Centre with 252 exhibitors – the largest show ever. The key note speaker at the Conference was Dr Mahathir bin Mohamad, former Prime Minister of Malaysia.

Global travel retail sales reached US$49 billion in 2012, up from US$46 billion in the previous year. Projections indicate an increase to US$64 billion by 2015. Asia Pacific sales rose 16.3% to US$18.6 billion.

So the outook is good – its just about fighting for share of shelf and building a solid foundation for South African wine to stand alone as a must have category.

This year we introduced Raats Family Wines, 88 Vineyards, and Cape Nectar for the first time and showed all the great wines from Avondale, Cederberg, Deetlefs, Eagles’ Nest, Ernie Els, Hidden Valley, Mt Vernon and Napier.

Visitors included: DFS, Cathay Pacific, Heinemann, Nuance, King Power, JATCO, Bangkok Air, Tourvest, Senmon Daiten, Lotte, Everrich, Asiana, Chengdu Airport, Plaza Bali, Inflight Duty Free to name a few!!
